Senator McCain was using a figure of speech to illustrate a question that was unanswerable. Or to put it another way, a "damned if you do" or "damned if you don't" question. A reporter's job is to cover the story not make up a story. I am a professional journalist by education and if I ever would have pulled the kind of shit I see today that passes for news reporting I would have never gotten out of Journalism 101. I am so deeply disappointed in members of my own trade. There are important issues to be covered in this election and yet this is the kind of crap that works its way up to the Drudge Report.
